Everything is so much more convenient these days, thanks to the advent of modern dispensaries and the legalization of weed deliveries.

I love having so much ready access to marijuana.

I can literally place an order at midnight and have it delivered before 2AM, and trust me this has come in handy a few times! Still, I miss my younger days. Weed was so much harder to find back then, especially the good stuff, but it also meant more. When you have to work for something it’s more satisfying to achieve it. When I was a teenager we would have to hunt around to find quality cannabis, and it was always a cause for celebration when we scored some. Currently there is no joy or wonder in cannabis, because it is as easy to get as fruit or vegetables. And then there is the matter of price! The prices at the cannabis dispensary are far above anything I have ever paid for weed before. I understand why the costs are so steep, because this is high-end cannabis cultivated by experts and scientists. They have certain strains of sativa that taste like grape bubble gum,, or tutti-frutti ice cream. It’s a stunning array of flavors, but if you want this premium cannabis you have to pay a premium price. I miss the old days, when marijuana was all pretty much the same, and it didn’t break the bank to buy it! I’m just an old fashioned kind of guy, I suppose, but I love smoking cannabis which means like it or not I have to visit the dispensary.

Although I was glad at first when medical marijuana became legal in this state, my elation didn’t actually last long.

• This is the actual government, after all, plus nobody is better than them at stripping the fun out of life.

I simply like the idea that people no longer have to go to jail for getting stoned, despite the fact that I dislike the idea of the government being in charge of the weed industry. For the time being I am going to steer clear of the whole thing. For all I know this is an elaborate ruse by the government, plus all these up-to-date cannabis dispensaries are collecting evidence. That also sounds paranoid, plus I’m mostly sure it’s not true, but just to be safe I will keep buying my cannabis from Karl. When I visit the cannabis dispensary I am being filmed the entire time, which I don’t like. Also, to buy anything from the cannabis dispensary I need to have a state-issued ID, plus supply them my contact information to put in their computer. I don’t like this either, especially when Karl sells pretty nice marijuana strains. Finally, I don’t like the prices at the cannabis dispensary. They have to charge a whole lot more than the various independent weed dealers do, to pay for the government fees plus taxes. Those are three pretty wonderful reasons to keep buying my cannabis from Karl. On the other hand, the cannabis dispensary has so many more amazing products that sometimes it is difficult to resist… Legal marijuana is wonderful for civilization, despite the fact that I still don’t know I trust it.

Our new security guard is named Otto, and he is a sight to behold.

Otto weighs almost four hundred pounds, and towers above everyone at six feet eight inches tall.

He says that he used to be a member of a biker gang, and based on all his tattoos I don’t think he’s kidding! Otto started working here about three weeks ago, and has had an immediate impact on the store. Although he is intimidating to look at, Otto is as sweet and kind a man as I have ever met. He’s funny, too! Otto always has the most hilarious stories from the old days, when he sold cannabis for his biker gang. He is a law abiding citizen now, and rarely even smokes marijuana, but he makes a damn good security guard. The best thing about Otto is that every single employee and customer at the cannabis dispensary feels safe. Just one look at the man lets you know he’s a tough guy, and nobody wants to start trouble at the cannabis dispensary. We didn’t have much trouble before, but we would get some teens trying to sneak inside and steal some cannabis products. Now it never happens, because Otto works from the front door of the cannabis shop, and he’s so wide that no one can get by him, unless he allows it. Oddly enough, there is another cannabis dispensary a few blocks away from here that has been robbed twice. I am so glad that Otto is here to protect my cannabis shop, because no one dares to steal from him.

The first day at an up-to-date task is regularly nerve-wracking for me.

• I have gone through enough tasks in my life that I should be used to it at this point, but I’m not.

Even when I am excited about the up-to-date task, I feel nervous when I first start. This was true for the cannabis dispensary as well. I applied for this task six months ago, plus only now have I been asked to join the team. At any other task I would calm my nerves by smoking some cannabis before I went in, despite the fact that I couldn’t do that with this task. One of the strict rules at the cannabis dispensary is to not be high at work. It is expected that all employees smoke cannabis regularly – or else why would you want to labor here? – but being stoned on the task is a large no-no. The supervisor Jenny explained to me that regardless of the product my wonderful friend and I sell, that the cannabis dispensary is a professional operation, plus has to be treated with respect. Many people rely on this business to get the medical cannabis they need to improve their lives, yes the majority of our purchasers just want recreational cannabis to have some fun. But my wonderful friend and I also have cancer patients, soldiers with PTSD, plus other folks who need cannabis as medicine. For this reason all of the budtenders have to be clean plus sober while on shift. When my wonderful friend and I are off the clock, after that I can use that significant employee discount plus get as much cannabis as my wonderful friend and I desire.

Kids this week have no respect for anything. I know what it’s like to be a bored teenager with nothing to do, I was young once! I also can’t remember that raising a little hell plus causing some mischief was the best way to relieve the boredom of small city life. This is definitely why so many rural kids indulge in drinking, drugs, plus premarital sex – because there is nothing else to do! All that said, my friends plus I never went out to cause crimes or harm property. I assume the teens this week are more delinquent than I was, because there has been a rash of vandalism throughout the city that even touched the cannabis dispensary. Why would they do this? Maybe because they don’t have access to legal cannabis like the adults do, or maybe they’re just jerks. In any event, this has caused an increase of prices at the cannabis dispensary, because they had to hire overnight security guards. Of course the punk kids don’t graffiti tag the cannabis dispensary during the day, only in the wee hours of the night. Now there is another overnight security guard that is parked out front of the cannabis shop… He doesn’t have a gun or anything, but he keeps an eye on the cannabis shop to make sure nobody messes with it. I understand why they had to do it, despite the fact that I hate that they raised prices on the premium cannabis strains by 10% to pay for the extra expense. Things like this is why everyone hates kids! Maybe they would easily behave better if they had legal access to cannabis.
