Without edibles, this last trip to the Disney theme park would have been a disaster.

In general I avoid the major theme parks, because I don’t like being around so many loud and rude people.

I enjoy rides and roller coasters as much as anyone else, but why should I pay $100 just to stand in line all day? Also, they charge ten dollars a beer in the theme parks, which means I am not rich enough to get drunk. If I am going to spend a full day at a Disney theme park, I need to be stoned, which is why the cannabis edibles came in clutch. Unlike smoking cannabis flower, the edibles leave no telltale signs of being stoned. I didn’t reek of cannabis smoke, nor did I have red-rimmed eyes. My friend Ben had a little baggy filled with cannabis gummies, and we both scarfed down a few of them in the parking lot. An hour later I was feeling good, but also feeling a little strange. Ben confessed that the baggie he used to store the cannabis edibles had also been used to store some magic mushrooms. Although I didn’t eat any of the mushrooms, the cannabis gummies had been in the same bag, so there was some transfer. I wasn’t exactly tripping balls out there, but I was feeling something a lot more potent than cannabis. As much as I enjoy the convenience of the dispensary, I sort of miss the old “Wild West” days of getting high. Three years ago the citizens of this state voted to legalize medical marijuana, and the following year they voted to legalize recreational use as well. Before then, I always bought my stuff from Mike, an old friend of mine from high school. Mike treated pot like a business, and was offering home delivery long before the dispensary came around. Mike never had a wide array of inventory but his prices were good and he respected the client-dealer relationship. He simply could not compete with all the fresh competition in the cannabis industry, so after that he only bought weed for himself. A few weeks ago I actually ran into Mike at the cannabis dispensary, and we caught up on old times. I bemoaned the fact that he was no longer selling cannabis, but he said “I might be doing it again.” I thought that meant he would start selling cannabis again. Instead, it turns out that he was at the cannabis dispensary to apply for a job as a budtender, which broke my heart a little bit.

My friend Earl invited me over for a Christmas party, and at first I turned him down.

I have been rather depressed recently, and I really didn’t feel like pretending to be happy around other people.

Earl insisted that I come, and in fact he said “get ready for the most mind-blowing experience of your life.” With a statement like that, I was too curious to resist! He told me to stop by the cannabis dispensary on my way over and buy something – anything at all – and bring it with me. I was running late, so I dashed inside and grabbed a big bag of cannabis edibles to bring with me. When I arrived at Earl’s place he was dressed as Santa Claus. In a White Elephant everyone takes a turn either choosing a new gift or “stealing” an opened gift from someone else. My cannabis edibles were the first gift opened, and for several rounds everyone stole them for one another. Then Julie opened a small jar of Blue Dream cannabis buds, and everyone forgot about the edibles! Blue Dream is one of the finest strains of cannabis available, but this was also a decent sized jar containing 8 grams of weed! When it was my turn, I also stole that jar of cannabis from my coworkers… but then it got stolen by someone else.

I like to ask people why they smoke marijuana.

I actually get a wide variety of responses, because despite what the general populace may believe, weed is for a lot more than just getting stoned.

Of course, getting stoned is the most common answer. Especially now with better laws on the books people don’t have to be afraid to experiment with smoking pot. That said, there are a lot of other things that cause people to seek out medical cannabis. For me it was my sleep disorder. None of the OTC meds or sleeping pills ever helped me to get a good night’s rest as much as cannabis has. Once I discovered the soothing effects of cannabis on my sleeping mind, I stopped taking all the other meds. My best friend Jerry smokes cannabis for a very different reason, to help with his anxiety. Jerry is the type of guy who gets stressed out, and the only thing that chills him out is a fat bowl of cannabis. Specifically, Jerry has to smoke sativa strains of cannabis, because indica just doesn’t work the same for him. I will agree there are subtle differences between indica and sativa, but I enjoy both kinds. Jerry only smokes sativa, because that’s what helps his issue. Sometimes we will get together late in the evening and smoke cannabis together on my porch, and discuss the day. The cannabis settles me down and makes me sleepy, while it helps Jerry to relax. After a few bowls, I am ready for a long and restful sleep.

Sometimes when you are on vacation, you end up finding amazing things that you never thought you would! Over the past twenty years that we have been married, my husband and I have been to many different places on vacation. We both love to travel and we think that it’s really fun to explore, try new foods, and find new experiences. This past July whenever we went on a family vacation, we decided to try something that we have never tried before. We went together as a family with all of our adult children, and so that was different! Since the kids are all adults now, we decided to go to this big recreational cannabis dispensary in the town that we were visiting. This was definitely a first for us! Of course, we had never taken our kids to a cannabis dispensary before. They weren’t old enough up until now but now they are. When we arrived at our vacation rental, we saw the new recreational cannabis dispensary that was right down the street from us. My husband and I looked at each other and we knew right then and there that we were going to take all of the kids there. As a family, we ended up going there to try some stuff out after we went out to dinner one night and we ended up having the best time that we have ever had on a family vacation! We tried some really good citrus and peach flavored marijuana edibles that we all really liked. We even bought some to take home with us.
