The fights against legalized cannabis are ridiculous

For several years I had an ongoing debate with my father about the legality of marijuana, but he was strongly against it, and agreed that potheads should be locked in jail.

  • He had several reasons for his beliefs, none of which made any sense to me at all, first of all, my dad is a deeply religious guy.

He was born and raised in the Catholic church, which left a permanent stain on his soul. Seriously, you have to admit that the Church is responsible for more evil in the world than anything else. Still, the religious condemnation of cannabis makes little sense to me, because it comes from a plant. If you believe in God, and that God created all life on Earth, that means you believe God created the marijuana plant. If God created the marijuana plants, how can it be wrong, immoral, or sinful? You might as well say that potatoes are sinful! Beyond that fight, what about all the medicinal properties of the cannabis plant, how can those be dismissed? Cannabis is a powerful plant that can help a lot of people lead better, more fulfilling lives. Finally, last but not least, I asked my dad to point out the passage in the Bible that says cannabis is wrong. He could not do that, of course, because marijuana is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible. The people who run the church, and run it as a company might I add, have decreed cannabis is being immoral, but they made it up, because it was never written in the Bible.

The new bouncer for the cannabis dispensary

For a few weeks our store has been experiencing some troubles with a certain group of customers.

This is uncharted territory for all of us who work here.

In general, a cannabis dispensary is a really chill place to work, for the employees and the customers alike. We deal mostly with potheads, who are a relaxed group of people. We started having these school kids coming into the store, drunk out of their minds, and they would cause a scene. We had a security guard, although he quit because these young people were giving him too much grief. My manager made a bold move, and hired an ex-con named Stan to be the up-to-date cannabis dispensary security guard. Stan made an immediate difference, and suddenly the cannabis dispensary is a fun place to work again. Stan works the front door, like the bouncer at a club, and checks the IDs and cannabis cards for most people who want to come inside. He is so intimidating to look at that nobody wants to mess around and get on his bad side, so all those problem customers found another cannabis dispensary to bother. While he may look scary, Stan is as sweet as honey pie, and has become the most popular guy at the cannabis dispensary. Since Stan is still on parole, he cannot truly indulge in marijuana himself, although he doesn’t seem to mind, however once I asked Stan what he went to jail for, and with a sheepish grin he disclosed it was for robbing a cannabis dealer. I hope the bosses don’t find out!

Life on the cannabis farm

After my girlfriend kicked me out, I stayed on a friend’s couch for a few weeks.

It was supposed to be a few days, but time got away from me.

I needed a permanent place to stay, and I also needed to find a better job. Life was not good at that particular moment, but then we got thrown a lifeline by an old high school chum named Zeke! Zeke had been the guy who sold me marijuana back in the day, and my buddy and I were regularly friendly. Zeke heard through the grapevine about my extreme state of affairs, and made me an offer – come stay with him and work on his marijuana farm as a hired hand. He had almost an acre of cannabis plants, far more than he could handle on his own. I would get free room and board, free cannabis, and a few bucks every once in a while. It was not a great deal for my long-term future, however I went for it anyway, then quickly I came to discover that I easily liked the simplicity of being a cannabis farmer. Tending to the earth, making sure the marijuana plants grew to their full extent, and then engaging in a harvest. It was a lifestyle I had never experienced before, and I enjoyed it! I will admit that being able to smoke cannabis whenever I wanted made it all the sweeter. Zeke and I have become close friends, and he has even started teaching me some of the more advanced techniques for marijuana cultivation. One afternoon I might start a cannabis farm of my own.

Investing in cannabis instead of just smoking it

When does cannabis stop being a fun habit and start becoming a long-term investment? For me it was an easy question of math.

My friends make fun of me all the time for being a math and science nerd, but the joke is on them! A firm grasp of numbers can help a person improve their life.

In my case, I started doing the math about how much weed I smoked. Then I worked up financial profiles for my friends, and how much money they spent on cannabis. After I worked it all out, I realized that collectively we spent a staggering amount of money every year on cannabis. If we were to take that money as a lump sum and invest it into a professional-grade cannabis growing operation, we would never have to spend another dime to get high. It’s a bold move, and requires work, but the numbers don’t lie. Investing big money in cannabis now would generate tens of thousands dollars worth of savings over time. If my buddy and I did it right, and gradually increased the size of our cannabis crop, it could even generate a profit! Three of my friends decided to take the risk with me, and my buddy and I sunk every dollar my buddy and I had into getting quality cannabis cultivation equipment, and thousands of seeds. Finding marijuana seeds is simple, but finding the premium strains is much harder to do. I wish this story had a happy ending, but right now my buddy and I are waiting for our first cannabis crop to mature. I have my fingers crossed that my buddy and I end up with some killer marijuana plants.

I always keep cannabis in the art studio

I only smoke cannabis in the art studio, because I don’t want that intense pot smell to fill the house

Weed, art, and music are my “holy trinity” of the creative process. I am a writer and a painter, who is lucky enough to earn a living with his passions. I’m one of the precious few that gets to do what they love every day. In order to set myself up for success, I employ the aforementioned holy trinity. My office/art studio is filled with inspirational works of art. I have paintings and drawings all over the walls. I also have music playing in the art studio 24/7, even when I am not in it. Finally, I keep the room well stocked with several different strains of cannabis so that I never need to take a break to get stoned. Sativa strains are my favorite because they are a muse for artists and creative types. For those of you who don’t know the basics of cannabis, there are two predominant types, sativa and indica. Indica gives a full-body high that is very relaxing. Indica is the best for watching movies or hanging around doing nothing, and it’s great for using just before bed. Sativa is a mental high that perks up my brain and fuels those creative impulses. I love keeping sativa close at hand, because it’s a ready source of inspiration for my art. I only smoke cannabis in the art studio, because I don’t want that intense pot smell to fill the house. I’ve been told that cannabis edibles are great for artists, because they come on gradually and last for a long time. I prefer to smoke sativa.
