Helping out my cannabis dealer

Have I told you about Jenny, my next door neighbor? I had no idea when I first moved in, but Jenny is a weed dealer.

The day I found out I was overjoyed.

Do you know how amazing it is to have a weed dealer living next door? There is a cannabis dispensary about three miles away, which is nice, but even nicer is putting on my slippers and shuffling next door to buy my pot. A few weeks ago Jenny came to my front door in a panic. One of her regular customers had been arrested, and she was afraid he would squeal about her cannabis operation. She asked if she could store her inventory of cannabis in my apartment for a few days, until she was sure the cops wouldn’t come crashing in. I agreed, even though I was a little nervous about having several pounds of illegal cannabis on my premises. Jenny is a good friend, a reliable source of cannabis, and she’s also pretty hot, which is why I agreed. It’s never a bad idea to have a hot woman with a cannabis connection owe you a favor! Gladly, I can report that the next few days went without incident. The guy who got arrested wouldn’t tell the cops where he got the cannabis, and eventually things went back to normal. I helped Jenny move all the cannabis back to her place. After that, she gave me a discount on all my cannabis purchases, and even gave me an offer about coming to work for her!

It can cost a lot of money to remain a medical cannabis patient

I was really excited when I heard that my state was going to vote on medical marijuana 7 years ago.

We had gone through several election cycles where we couldn’t get the issue put on the ballot.

When we finally got medical marijuana on the ballot, it didn’t pass the first time around. I live in a state where you have to get over 60% of the vote to pass a constitutional amendment. It’s a smart plan because you don’t want a simple majority to change the state’s constitution, or we would have changes in our state’s Constitution every single election cycle. Therefore the state gave the threshold of 60%, which meant that we had to get at least 60% of the vote to pass medical marijuana in the state constitution. The first time we almost hit 60, and the second time we got over 72% of the vote. However at the time, I wasn’t expecting all of these expenses. As a medical cannabis patient I have to pay the state department of health $75 once a year just to renew my medical marijuana card. Then I have to see a medical marijuana physician twice a year for my medical marijuana recommendation. The medical marijuana recommendation is essentially like a physician’s prescription for a drug. But since these aren’t normal drugs, they’re not considered prescriptions. Between all the expenses being a medical patient, I have to spend between $300 and $400 a year. The only saving grace as a medical cannabis patient is the fact that medical marijuana products have dropped in price of the last 2 years. It’s a lot cheaper to buy cannabis flower products these days and it was when I first became a medical marijuana patient.

I prefer medical cannabis flower products the most

When I first started using cannabis, I didn’t have access to all these crazy products like tinctures and dabbing concentrates.

All I could buy was Cannabis flower buds and hashish back then when I was still in college.

I just wanted access to legal cannabis, I wasn’t thinking about all of the amazing products that are available today. Honestly, I just really wanted to be able to buy cannabis without ever worrying that I might go to jail or lose my job as a result. That was the major thing on my mind when cannabis was still illegal. Then several years ago my state was able to vote on medical marijuana. And to my surprise, we voted and passed medical marijuana. Now I have access to a whole assortment of different medical marijuana products but I prefer cannabis flower buds the most. Even though cannabis flower products are the same thing I’ve been using since I started using marijuana, I prefer the full spectrum effects I get from them compared to other cannabis products like cannabis oil. Sometimes if there’s too much THC and not enough terpenes I don’t get the same medical benefits from the cannabis product. I’ve tried dabbing cannabis concentrates but that doesn’t give me the same results that I want either. The Cannabis flower products are often the best for getting me the medical effects for my mental health problems versus something like strict pain for instance. When I’m trying to treat pain, sometimes all I need is a really strong THC product. It’s not a huge problem if the terpene percentage is lower than cannabis flower products.

The cost of medical cannabis has sharply decreased in my state

I never thought I would see anything decrease in price amid the inflation going on over the last few years.

Granted, the price and gasoline goes up and down all the time, but I haven’t really seen it drop below $3 in at least 4 years. I got to a point where I pretty much expect everything to increase in price now. Even the cost of bread has gone up at least 20 to 30% regardless of what brand you buy. I know eggs doubled in price recently and in some places they started to go down again, although the cost of potatoes is still consistently high. It’s frustrating trying to budget when you’re making the same amount of money all the time. However, I’m paying a lot less money for cannabis products this year than I was in 2020 for instance. Back then it was at least $50 for a quality jar of cannabis flower products. You could get an eighth of an ounce for that cost, but now the same amount of cannabis is only $35 at the same store. Other cannabis companies have put out similar products for $20 or less. It’s incredible to see how cost-effective it is to buy marijuana in 2023 in my specific state. I can’t speak for the cannabis markets and other states, but our medical cannabis industry here is definitely decreasing in cost for products across the board. It’s incredible to see how budget-friendly a lot of these cannabis companies have become over the last couple of years. People can finally afford to use marijuana effectively.

It's easy to forget about rolling marijuana recommendations from physicians

We have these things called rolling recommendations for medical marijuana products.

Navigating my state’s laws and regulations can be a huge headache. There are a lot of rules that are enacted by the state legislature on an almost yearly basis. For instance, there’s a constant change in the legality regarding the use of cell phones behind the wheel of a car. When I first started driving, there weren’t any rules about texting while driving. Then they also made a rule saying you couldn’t hold a phone for any reason behind the wheel of the car. But since sometimes people are using your GPS or they’re changing the song on the radio, they have to adjust the legality and basically create a gray area where you could be using a phone but you’re not allowed to be texting. Essentially, a cop could pull you over and ask to look at your phone to see if you have any texting history while you were driving. It’s a very big gray area, just like medical marijuana is to this day. I didn’t expect the state legislature to make medical marijuana rules so arcane and strange compared to other states. We have these things called rolling recommendations for medical marijuana products. The marijuana recommendation is like the prescription that you would get from a physician for another drug. Imagine being told that you can only get a drug every 30 days without any adjustment whatsoever, which is what happens with controlled substances. But they’re doing this with medical marijuana which is not common in other states that have medical marijuana available. Usually, they just let patients buy a certain amount everyday and it’s usually a lot more than what this state allows for medical marijuana products.
