How is cannabis considered a performance-enhancing drug?

A few weeks ago one of the players on the school baseball team was kicked off due to smoking marijuana, but this has started a debate on campus, because most of us don’t understand why this happened.

Weed is not a performance-enhancing drug, so what’s the big deal? If a person does cocaine it gives them an unnatural burst of energy and focus, so athletes shouldn’t use it while in games.

Taking opioids can reduce pain and inflammation, and help a hurt player to play a little better, then but what benefits does cannabis provide an athlete? The only situation where I see cannabis being a performance-enhancing drug is for Nathan’s hot dog eating contest. This has led to a series of public debates on campus about cannabis use, and its legality. A big protest group even picketed the baseball stadium, because they felt it unfair that this student lost his scholarship just for smoking a little cannabis! I have listened to a few of these debates, and nobody has managed to change my mind about cannabis. While I think it is foolish for an athlete to smoke cannabis, by no means should be against the rules. If people want to smoke cannabis, let them! Slowly this country is changing the way it thinks about cannabis, but my buddy and I still have a long way to go. Eventually marijuana will be as commonplace as tobacco or alcohol, and I know this country will be better off for it. The bottom line is that marijuana is not a performance-enhancing drug, and never has been.

I always keep cannabis in the art studio

I only smoke cannabis in the art studio, because I don’t want that intense pot smell to fill the house

Weed, art, and music are my “holy trinity” of the creative process. I am a writer and a painter, who is lucky enough to earn a living with his passions. I’m one of the precious few that gets to do what they love every day. In order to set myself up for success, I employ the aforementioned holy trinity. My office/art studio is filled with inspirational works of art. I have paintings and drawings all over the walls. I also have music playing in the art studio 24/7, even when I am not in it. Finally, I keep the room well stocked with several different strains of cannabis so that I never need to take a break to get stoned. Sativa strains are my favorite because they are a muse for artists and creative types. For those of you who don’t know the basics of cannabis, there are two predominant types, sativa and indica. Indica gives a full-body high that is very relaxing. Indica is the best for watching movies or hanging around doing nothing, and it’s great for using just before bed. Sativa is a mental high that perks up my brain and fuels those creative impulses. I love keeping sativa close at hand, because it’s a ready source of inspiration for my art. I only smoke cannabis in the art studio, because I don’t want that intense pot smell to fill the house. I’ve been told that cannabis edibles are great for artists, because they come on gradually and last for a long time. I prefer to smoke sativa.

The new cannabis dispensary security guard

Our new security guard is named Otto, and he is a sight to behold.

Otto weighs almost four hundred pounds, and towers above everyone at six feet eight inches tall.

He says that he used to be a member of a biker gang, and based on all his tattoos I don’t think he’s kidding! Otto started working here about three weeks ago, and has had an immediate impact on the store. Although he is intimidating to look at, Otto is as sweet and kind a man as I have ever met. He’s funny, too! Otto always has the most hilarious stories from the old days, when he sold cannabis for his biker gang. He is a law abiding citizen now, and rarely even smokes marijuana, but he makes a damn good security guard. The best thing about Otto is that every single employee and customer at the cannabis dispensary feels safe. Just one look at the man lets you know he’s a tough guy, and nobody wants to start trouble at the cannabis dispensary. We didn’t have much trouble before, but we would get some teens trying to sneak inside and steal some cannabis products. Now it never happens, because Otto works from the front door of the cannabis shop, and he’s so wide that no one can get by him, unless he allows it. Oddly enough, there is another cannabis dispensary a few blocks away from here that has been robbed twice. I am so glad that Otto is here to protect my cannabis shop, because no one dares to steal from him.

I miss the old days before cannabis dispensaries

Everything is so much more convenient these days, thanks to the advent of modern dispensaries and the legalization of weed deliveries.

I love having so much ready access to marijuana.

I can literally place an order at midnight and have it delivered before 2AM, and trust me this has come in handy a few times! Still, I miss my younger days. Weed was so much harder to find back then, especially the good stuff, but it also meant more. When you have to work for something it’s more satisfying to achieve it. When I was a teenager we would have to hunt around to find quality cannabis, and it was always a cause for celebration when we scored some. Currently there is no joy or wonder in cannabis, because it is as easy to get as fruit or vegetables. And then there is the matter of price! The prices at the cannabis dispensary are far above anything I have ever paid for weed before. I understand why the costs are so steep, because this is high-end cannabis cultivated by experts and scientists. They have certain strains of sativa that taste like grape bubble gum,, or tutti-frutti ice cream. It’s a stunning array of flavors, but if you want this premium cannabis you have to pay a premium price. I miss the old days, when marijuana was all pretty much the same, and it didn’t break the bank to buy it! I’m just an old fashioned kind of guy, I suppose, but I love smoking cannabis which means like it or not I have to visit the dispensary.

Bad dreams are muted because of cannabis

As a kid nobody ever wanted to have a sleepover with me, because I was always very weird when I was sleeping.

I would regularly talk in my sleep, and even walk in my sleep.

It creeped out all of my friends. During the day I’m fine and dandy like sour candy, but at night everything changed. In high school I tried smoking weed for the first time, and found it to be a game-changer. The first time I smoked cannabis was also the first time I ever got a good night’s sleep with no bad dreams. I’m not a scientist or a sleep researcher, so I don’t know why cannabis muted my dreams so well, but I couldn’t argue with the results. Melatonin helps me fall asleep, but always makes my dreams more vivid, which makes them scarier. With a little cannabis in the mix, those vile, disturbing nightmares seem distant, as if I’m watching them on a TV screen from across the room. The dreams are still there, but the cannabis mutes them, so they aren’t as upsetting. When I wake up I feel refreshed and recharged, and never remember what I dreamed about, and it’s all thanks to cannabis! If you have these kinds of nightmares, talk to your budtender about strains of cannabis that might help you. Cannabis may not help you like it helped me, because every brain has different chemistry, but it’s worth a shot! There are also some great websites with information about how cannabis strains can impact sleep and affect your dreams.
