Things you can’t do at a cannabis dispensary

There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to cannabis.

My friends seem to think that since our state offers recreational weed, it is a free for all.

I laughed the other day when my friend Hannah thought she could pick up all the weed she wanted. It isn’t like a candy store or a grocery store. You have limits with how much cananais you are allowed to get each month. It doesn’t matter if you are a medical marijuana patient or a recreational cannabis customer. They do cut you off. They track you through your license too. So there is no getting around it. Another thing is that my friends always expect free samples. It is not like a deli or a candle store. A cannabis dispensary isn’t allowed to offer products to be consumed on the premises. That means you can’t sample any pot brownies or THC infused gummies. The only exception is that some diepsnearies are licensed to have a smoker’s lounge. After You buy your product, you can smoke it in the designated area. That is about it however. The last is that my one friend Brian rode his bike to the cannabis dispensary. He then thought he could just toss his products in his bike basket and ride away. Technically that isn’t allowed. Your cannabis products are supposed to be put in your trunk, locked away. Yes, that is true. Look it up. You can’t just stuff it in a pocket and carry it around. Legally you are supposed to have it locked away until you get home. Most people don’t do this however.

Researching concentrates

I never like to walk into situations totally unprepared.

So what I do is a lot of research beforehand.

I knew I needed to get some products at the cannabis dispensary for my depression. I just wasn’t sure what kind of cannabis products would work for me. First I looked up my state requirements. I didn’t need a medical cannabis card. I could just walk in and get what I wanted off the shelves. Second, I looked up what kind of cannabis dispensary had the best products. I wanted good reviews, trained budtenders and seed to sell products. After that I started figuring out what kind of cannabis product I want to use. There are all sorts of ways you can get cannabis into the body. You can smoke it. That means a loose leaf flower or an oil based product. I didn’t want to smoke a joint, bong or hookah. I also didn’t want to vape and have the vape with me at all times. There are all different types of edibles. There is more than just the typical pot brownie. That seemed like it could easily experie and be worthless calories to me. A topical wouldn’t really work for my issue either. I found that a concentrate was what I needed. There are even dispensaries with dab bars that you can try them out. I didn’t require that however. I knew what one I wanted, where it was in the store I wanted and how much it ws. When the time was ready, I then grabbed my wallet and picked it up. It felt good to know exactly what was going into my body.

A mouth spray to calm me down

When I was promoted at work I realized that I would need to elad a lot of presentations and meetings.

  • I am not very good at public speaking.

I immediately start to sweat, get nervous and tend to flub my words. I started getting really anxious about it. I tried practicing my speech but that didn’t help. I found that a lot of people take cannabis for anxiety. Since my state offers both recreational and medical weed, I figured I would just pop into the cannabis dispensary to see what they had. I didn’t want to smoke a joint or vape cannabis oil at work though. I really didn’t want people to know I needed weed in order to get through a work day. I talked to the budtender at the cannabis dispensary for some assistance. I wanted to know if there was something discreet and without a smell. The budtender immediately told me that I needed to try an edible for my issues. He showed me a whole world of cannabis products. There are all sorts of different edibles out there. You can make space cakes, pot brownies, cookies, gummies and handy candies. There are mints, gums and tablets too. I found that the mouth spray was what I liked the best. It looks like a normal breath freshening spray. I just do a few squirts in my mouth in the morning and right before any kind of meeting. Nobody knows that I am spraying THC straight into my mouth to calm me down.

Topical for leg and hand pain

When my mother started having pain in her hands from arthritis and getting leg cramps at night, I pushed her to try medical cannabis.

  • At first my mother tried eating gin soaked raisins, icy hot, a heating pad, ice, etc.

None of those remedies worked. She didn’t want to go to the doctor and get medication. So medical weed was nice in between. I think my mother thought she was going to need to smoke a bong and get high. For chronic pain, you don’t have to do that. You can take a pure CBD oil to reduce the inflammation in your body. You also can do a topical. That is what her doctor recommended. Now my mother uses a cannabis infused cream every morning and night. There is a more powerful cream for her arthritis than the leg cramps. They both work wonders though. My mother says it feels like putting a more powerful icy hot on her body. It smells much better and doesn’t leave a sticky residue either. My mother likes how portable it is. The creams are quite tiny and she can stick them in a purse if she does overnight somewhere. It is so easy to travel with it. Since she is a medical cannabis patient she can take it with her when she does the snowbird thing. She has never needed to show her card however. It is not like there are police dogs looking for small creams with no THC content in them. My mother doesn’t get any of those cannabis effects since it doesn’t even get into her bloodstream. It just numbs the area.

Cannabis for my dad’s anxiety

My dad suffers from anxiety.

  • He is the type of person who is not sure when he is stressed though.

When his anxiety got really bad, he was having trouble driving to work. Then my family got involved. My mother immediately took him to the doctor. The whole experience was horrible. He had to wait over an hour to see a doctor that refused to give him pills without a prostate exam. Then the pills had some pretty negative side effects. My dad wasn’t really good about getting his pills either. He would frequently forget to refill the prescription, pick it up or call it in. More often than not my father was off his medication. Every year when the prescription was up, he would dread going to the doctor. It wasn’t working at all for him. So I started doing some research. I found that medical cannabis was a better solution for him. That doctor’s visit took maybe five minutes and required only talking. Then my father got a medical cannabis card in the mail after paying a small fee. He has a prescription for a certain amount of cannabis oil each month. He can grab it from the cannabis dispensary anytime he wants or have it delivered on a monthly basis home. He can vape the cannabis oil when he is at work since he works outside. My dad is always on his cannabis now and has shown great improvement. Refilling his prescription isn’t a huge hassle either. My father doesn’t dread that visit.
