I guess the first thing I had to accept, once it was quite clear that I was suffering from PTSD, was that I wasn’t going to be what I thought of as normal. That was over. But with the benefit of medical cannabis, I’m finding a way toward being transformed from where I’ve been lately. Spending several tours in fierce combat simply changed me. It changed me minute to minute perspective in general. That’s a wholesale change and tough enough to work through. But the fact that I’m now dealing with so much fear, pain and anxiety was more than I could handle on my own. That much was clear. Prior to reaching out for help and getting the benefits from medical marijuana, I could hardly come out of my house. All I could feel comfortable seeking was absolute safety and numbness. That’s where I was and my PTSD was the reason. But my sister helped me find a therapist who uses a more holistic approach to my condition. Part of that approach meant I had to get access to a cannabis dispensary. The cannabis flower products that help me so much are available in legal weed stores now. That’s a great thing. The medical cannabis really helps me both face my fears and the illusion of them, while also imbuing me with a more positive outlook. Plus, it really helped me get over being in group therapy. I have never really liked drinking.

My friends don’t really understand why I don’t want to have a drink or two in a social setting.

The truth is, everytime I have a few drinks and start to feel the effects, I begin to experience social anxiety. I start to question what everyone in the room thinks of me and I am no longer having a good time. Even long after the social interaction, I am left to dissect details of the conversation and wonder if I made a fool of myself. I have always relied on medical cannabis products to help me cope with my anxiety. However, there is a stigma around smoking in front of friends that don’t smoke. Finally, I’ve found a solution to this problem. When I went to my medical marijuana dispensary, I saw that they had got a whole new inventory of edible cannabis drinks. The drinks are controlled doses and are designed for different settings. You can actually purchase cannabis drinks that are designed for social settings, while there are also cannabis drinks that are designed for relaxation. When I hung out with some friends, I had one of my cannabis drinks in place of an alcoholic beverage. I really liked the way it made me feel. I had no social anxiety and actually was able to really have a good time.

When my mom was diagnosed with cancer, it was devastating for my family and I.

However, as time went on, we started to see how much fighting cancer was hurting her. She was constantly experiencing side effects to her treatment, such as nausea. When my mom got on medical marijuana, she actually needed less medication. She was relying on so much pain management medication. Once she began taking medical marijuana, she received some level of pain management from the cannabis and was able to lower her intake of harder pain medications. Medical marijuana is also known to help treat neuropathic pain, which helps many cancer patients. I didn’t have much of an opinion regarding medical marijuana prior to this experience, but after seeing how much it helped my mom, I am now an advocate.

I’m going to be quite frank about recreational marijuana.

It’s been a life changer for me.

And that’s just so ironic as I spent a lot of my life railing against recreational weed and even medical marijuana. This came from being raised with all sorts of myth and misinformation when it came to cannabis. I thought it was evil and made sure to let everyone else know what I thought. But as I’ve learned as I’m going through the process of rebuilding my life, this reality comes with a whole lot of irony. These days, legal weed and the cannabis store I get it from are keys to a foundation for being my best self. That’s where I am in life and it took riding my old life into the ground before I finally realized that I’m allowed to be happy. It’s weird no longer being married or having to raise kids. The kids turned out find but the marriage was never a partnership. I’m starting over now and part of my new approach comes with holistic intentions. Using legal weed helps me stay really honest with myself and trust my feelings. That’s still new to me, trusting my feelings. But I’m learning that the real truth is often right inside those feelings that I’m finally giving credence to. While I have worked hard to finally live the life I want to live, it’s sure been made easier with access to legal pot from the cannabis store near me. My uncle owns a convenience store and bait shop near the river delta. For years he didn’t struggle to keep a consistent customer base. This was during the years when our town was packed full of employees of the large food factories here. When two of the largest companies left the area and laid off their employees here, there was a town exodus and the population dropped suddenly. That meant fewer people out fishing on the river and shopping at my uncle’s convenience store. He didn’t know what he was going to do as a means to recoup the lost customers and revenue. For a while he considered selling prepared food of some kind, whether it be pizza or sub sandwiches. But getting a food license was out of the question, so my uncle chose a different route recently to drum up new business. He entered the legal hemp market by becoming a CBD seller. His CBD and hemp supplier is a company that operates in Oregon and grows all of their plants in greenhouses utilizing natural sunlight. The CBD oils are full spectrum and they all come from hemp plants with less than 0.3% of THC inside. That’s the law, as any plants with more than 0.3% of THC per dry weight are considered “marijuana” and are still criminalized under federal law. Since he began selling hemp and CBD products, my uncle saw a noticeable increase in business at his convenience store. Some of his customers say that he has better CBD products than the CBD store on the opposite side of town. He has dedicated customers that buy new batches of CBD from him at least once a week.
