I’ve been visiting my grandmother daily now that she’s staying in a nursing home.

Sadly, as her health problems got worse, it became impossible to keep her in her home safely.

That’s when she made the final decision for herself that it would be wiser if she went to a facility. On top of that, her family members have been visiting her constantly. I hate to see my grandmother out of her home, but she has more visitors these days than she has had in the past two decades combined. She also made friends with nearly a dozen different residents and has loads of fun daily doing various activities and crafts. It’s nice to know that my grandmother is getting the car she needs without sacrificing her happiness. I can’t speak for her, but she seems a lot happier than she was prior to the change. On top of that, she learned a lot about CBD and cannabis from the other residents who happen to possess medical marijuana cards. Apparently cannabis is extremely popular among the residents in this assisted living and retirement facility, however many use cannabis edibles and cannabis topicals instead of smoking cannabis flower products. If you get there early enough in the morning, you can try one of their donuts while they’re fresh. As a huge donut fan, I hate to admit that I get them more than once a week. They’re so delicious that it’s easy to forget about your diet or desire to eat healthy. Another local business that I like a lot is the CBD store. It’s owned by a man who used to run a tobacco vape shop in this building a few prior. That business was successful so he transitioned into selling CBD and hemp products. As much as I like to give him my business, I have come to find that the CBD products at the medical cannabis dispensaries in my city are better, cheaper, and more diverse. You can get CBD products with more than 0.3% THC which is a huge benefit. Lots of people like to use CBD products with an equal amount of THC inside at a one to one ratio. But since I have a medical marijuana card and already buy a lot of THC products, I don’t need an excuse to get my CBD products at a medical marijuana dispensary instead of a CBD store. It’s easier and I can guarantee that my products were lab tested and don’t have any impurities in them. The cannabis rules and regulations in this state forbid medical cannabis companies from selling products without subjecting them to rigorous lab testing.

My rural home is beautiful and I couldn’t ask for a more peaceful existence, however it can be difficult living so far away from the nearest town.

A hospital is a 30 minute drive, while the biggest shopping mall is a 45 minute drive.

I don’t work any longer, but my old office was an hour away from this location. Between the work commutes and the inconvenience of having to drive long distances just to get to a random store or gas station, it can feel daunting being this far away from civilization. I enjoy the peace and solitude that this place affords though, and it’s hard to imagine trading living in this place for anything in the world at this point. Most of my doctors are in this area so my drives for medical purposes never take a considerably long period of time. My family doctor is in the same exact strip mall as the town’s favorite pizzeria. Unfortunately, I wasn’t so lucky when I was searching far and wide for a marijuana doctor last year. My state finally legalized medical marijuana and I needed to find a medical marijuana doctor to get a medical marijuana card. If you don’t have a medical marijuana card in this state, you cannot shop in a marijuana dispensary. My medical marijuana doctor is not near me at all; in fact, he’s a 60 minute drive north of here. Despite the drive, he gives me amazing service. If I need my medical marijuana recommendation bumped up at all, he’s happy to make a small increase if I call his office. Best of all, it doesn’t take long for someone to get the message and input the change into the state registry for medical marijuana patients.

I don’t like gimmicky products that cost a lot of money for the consumer, while costing little to nothing to make for the manufacturer.

Those stupid personal air coolers are a good example of this principle.

They’re little more than a plastic box with a computer fan and a water reservoir. Yet I have seen some sold for upwards to $60 if they come with a freezable water pack. Regardless of what price they’re sold at, the fans inside are too weak to create a sufficient evaporative cooling effect. Real evaporative coolers, also known as “swamp coolers,” are big and heavy. They’re expensive machines that are engineered to work for large spaces. You’re better off putting ice packs on your head if you want to cool down quickly for little money. Sadly there are gimmicky products abound in nearly every industry. Cannabis products are often hyped for their novelty value before anyone stops and asks about what’s inside. I remember when cannabis companies out west started selling cannabis drinks and cannabis gummy candies. It sounded cool to consume marijuana in such a normal fashion without smoking cannabis flower products, but the problem is that most cannabis drinks and cannabis gummies contain nothing but THC. Cannabis flower products have up to dozens of cannabinoids and terpenes inside creating an entourage effect. That’s why I would rather vaporize cannabis flower products and cannabis concentrates. There are good full spectrum cannabis oils out there, but they’re a lot more expensive than broad spectrum cannabis oils which contain mostly THC and just a handful of other cannabinoids and terpenes.
